You Should Know About……

Membership
Calling the Shoot Out its home rink, HRH holds its try outs in early August, with the season beginning in late August/early September. Players wishing to try out for HRH should contact a coach for full details.  Players are registered with USA InLine, HHSI and the team.  A player must be enrolled in high school-grades 9 -12 or be of the ages
14-18. Homeschool students must also follow this outline.

Code of Ethics
USA Inline dictates the rules for participation and game performance. Additionally, the League, HHSI, holds a set of rules and finally, each player is required to read, sign and follow the Code of Ethics as established by the team.
Infractions against the rules result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Code, including the possibility of
expulsion from the team. The Code of Ethics remains in force any time a player represents HRH; whether in uniform or not. Prospective players are issued a copy of the Code at try outs.

Practices
Set at the beginning of the season, practices generally extend 2 hours and are held at the home rink.  Players should come to practice with full equipment and a willingness to learn. Additional practices and team functions may be called during the year. These costs are not included in the team or practice fees and are due at the time of the event. Once accepted on the team, players can expect to practice weekly in 2 hour intervals.

Teams & Officers
Currently, HRH fields one JV team, with plans to field a  Freshmen/Rookie team. A player is evaluated during
try-outs and during practices to ensure that he is playing on the correct level and in the correct position.  HRH fields 4 leadership positions: Captain and 3 Asst. positions.  Officers are not elected, but are assigned, with consideration of the team players' input.

Rookies
The position of "rookie" allows a player to develop essential team skills and become
familiar with the team as a whole. Regardless of a player's level of experience, new players to HRH hold the status of  "rookie." Should there be 2 teams this season, rookies will fill the roster of one team. If not, then a rookie can expect to build his skills with the seasoned team.As a player's skills develop, he may be moved onto the "B" line, i.e., be placed with a more experienced player during game time. A rookie on the seasoned team has the opportunity to move from the rookie line onto "B" line through their level of play.

Equipment
Players are required to purchase and wear:  HECC approved helmet with face guard, a
colored mouthpiece, elbow pads, hockey gloves, knee and shin pads, inline skates with all axles filled.
An athletic cup, while not required, is highly recommended. HRH plays with 2 jerseys; one white with green lettering, one purple with white/black lettering. Orders for jerseys are made in the first week of practices and delivered 2-3 weeks later. Lost or misplaced jerseys must be replaced, and may incur a higher cost as team discounts do not apply to individual orders.

Costs
Team fees are set by the League and divided equally among the players.  The amount due from each player depends on the season fees and the  number of players on the team, but typically run $100-125 a player. Practice fees are also divided equally among the players. Typically, cost for  practice runs $200-250 a player, resulting in a cost of 300 to 375 per player per season. Fees are payable prior to the beginning of the practice season. Two teams result in lower costs for practices.

Games and Seasons
HRH plays 12 games and participates in the play-off rounds during both seasons.  The Fall season begins in late
August and ends in early December.  The Spring season begins in early January and ends in early May.  Teams
advance in play-offs according to the number of wins. A player can expect 12 games in the regular season and as many as 4 games in the play-offs. Tournaments, All-Star games and Senior Games are also played, but in addition to the regular season.

Portfolios and Website
Portfolios are kept on each player indicating years of experience, team affiliations,  tournaments and general game stats.  Portfolios are delivered to players upon leaving the team or graduation from high school.
